Smart Phones
The ordinary cell phone is now passé, thanks to smart phones. You have certainly heard the term being used by a lot of manufacturers to describe their cell phones, but may not be quite sure (like a lot of other people!) what is it that makes them smart. So, if you want to end your quest of knowing an ordinary cell phone from one that’s ‘smart’, keep on reading!
These are cell phones at their core, but also include features that are a standard fixture of PC’s laptops or PDA’s. In fact these devices are probably an amalgam of the sell phone and the PDA, with a dash of internet connectivity thrown in. you can find proof of this in the fact that the rise of smart phones has also seen the fall of the PDA, though PDA-lovers may beg to differ!
Here are the key features of a standard ‘smart’ cellular device these days:
* It has an operating system, much like a PC. So, you have the Blackberry OS, the Windows Mobile or the Palm OS to choose from. The OS in these phones work in the same way as they do in a PC or laptop. You access every feature and manage every bit data, via the OS.
* You can also install various software packages in these phones, which work under the guidance of the OS. So, you can have specific applications to create word documents, slide presentations, pie charts and bar graphs, edit images, create audio play-lists and much more.
* Web access is another reason why smart phones can claim to be smart. And with the advent of 3G technology, web access has become lighting fast even on these small devices.
* Email handling is a joy on these phones. You can manage separate accounts for work and personal emails and also use instant messing services.
So, quite clearly, smart phones are actually more intelligent than any other pocket device that you can buy!
